Area Support Group-Afghanistan (ASG-A) Commander Col. Jacob Peterson hosted an Aug. 28 lunch meeting for Afghan Col. Hamidullah Kahamani, the garrison support commander at Parwan Prison. As the ASG-A commander, Peterson provides base life support to many of the thousands of men and women who are assigned to Afghanistan in support of Resolute Support, a NATO-led mission to train, advise and assist the Afghan security forces and institutions. The Resolute Support Mission currently comprises around 16,000 personnel from 41 NATO Allies and partners.

The ASG-A mission is to provide base life support--everything from billeting, laundry and food service to public works and quality of life support--to more than 35,000 personnel throughout the Combined Joint Operations Area-Afghanistan (CJOA-A).
