During a Twilight Tattoo at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Virginia, May 25, two civilians were recognized with "Outstanding Civilian Service Awards," for their tireless and unwavering support to Soldiers and their families. The award is the third highest public service honor the Army can bestow upon a civilian.

U.S. forces provide support by fire as Jordanian Armed Forces soldiers clear a town building-by-building. This was the scene at the Joint Training Center, Jordan, during the Eager Lion 16 exercise, May 24. The annual event culminated with a combined arms live fire exercise between the U.S. and Jordanian militaries.

Since 1981, military personnel have come and gone through the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, Calif., to prepare for missions around the world. These month-long rotations are usually geared to prepare a unit for an upcoming mission. For the 1-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, their May 2016 rotation to NTC was a way to hone in on those key fighting skills as a brigade.

As the petroleum laboratory specialists and the inspector from the 1st Sustainment Command (Theater) walk into the lab -- a mobile trailer called the Petroleum Quality Analysis System-Enhanced -- they smile at the smell of fuel as if they just entered a coffee shop. The lab holds all the equipment needed to perform quality surveillance testing of bulk fuel allowing petroleum laboratory specialists, or PLSs, to begin testing samples within 120 minutes of arrival to a deployed environment. The inside of the lab is well lit, ventilated, clean and organized to allow the PLSs to reach most fuel testing tools within arm's length.
