The stairwell in Community Development Center in downtown Djibouti City was packed tight Sept. 13 as more than 180 children rushed out of the building, each carrying a bundle of school supplies, a T-shirt and a smile passed on by the U.S. Army 418th Civil Affairs Battalion. The distribution of the welcome supplies resulted from a close collaboration between U.S. Army Maj. Michael Guiles, 418th CABN, and director of School District 5, Mariam Youssouf.

When the annual Information Fair began in 1995 it attracted 12 people and was held in a single room.
This year, on Sept. 10, the U.S. Army Garrison Brussels Information Fair drew more than 100 agencies from local government, civic organizations, tourist offices, businesses, schools and social clubs and more than 300 attendees.
While the first Information Fair was held in one room, this year's version spread throughout the garrison's buildings. The chapel, library and connecting hallways provided space for the agencies to set up their tables and display their wares and information.

The Corps' Sacramento District has completed a $28 million school building for Defense Language Institute at the Presidio of Monterey. The energy-efficient building is one of three scheduled for Corps construction to accomodate the growing DLI.
