Pfc. Shawn Williams was driving a Stryker vehicle when a roadside bomb detonated and ignited the vehicle on fire. Williams’ foot was fractured, his face covered with hot grease, his right and left hands suffered second-degree burns and were blistering. He made it to the Role 3 hospital at Kandahar Airfield within the "golden hour" of care.
